SOLD!- Jump on the auction bandwagon and save a fortune

MR CAMERON SAID this morning on BBC breakfast that it will be a  “difficult year” and “we inherited a big  problem so we have to deal with it”. Easily said, not so easily done. It seems all these cuts made by the government are firing from the left, right and centre and shaving our savings down. We’re told to  “SPEND MORE” to help us get out of the deficit, but I personally will be ignoring that  advice and looking after each penny. I’m not alone either, many of us interior design lovers are  mending, restoring and re-vamping our homes without spending a fortune. Continue reading

Sustainable interiors lead the way

I discovered Sarah Turner at this years Birmingham Interiors Show in The Designers Block and loved her approach to sustainable interior designs. She specialises in eco-friendly art and design and has created a collection of lamps and lights sourced from cast away plastic bottles.

Handmade, the pieces are delicate and beautiful as they hand perfectly from the ceiling. She is expected to exhibit her collection at this years London Fashion Week and the prestigious Ideal Homes Show in March at London’s Earl Court.

Birmingham Interiors Show 2011 lowdown

AS THE UK’s largest trading event, this years Birmingham Interiors Show needed to prove itself after last years poor performance echoed the damaging effect the recession had on the interior industry. Design of the day

If your fortunate enough to have an active social life and often find yourself scouring for extra chairs every time you throw a dinner party, this innovative design could be just up your street. Created by Scandinavian designer Hans Edbald, the “Stockholm wall chair” can be mounted on a wall (as the name suggests), folded up for space-saving or down to sit on. Made from aluminium, this chair is very cool and sleek, but if you want to add more comfort, you can opt for a reindeer leather cover for £95.  It retails on for £215.

The products on the site can’t be purchased in store like the cult Stamp rug, or Stockholm wall chair, which is the site’s unique selling point. Continue reading

Stamp that on your wall!

Famously featured on Alan Carr’s chatty man and exhibited at this years Birmingham Interiors Show, this range of Royal Mail stamp rugs are becoming the new craze.  Depicting Queen Elizabeth’s head and made in a variety of colours,  the rugs can be laid on the floor or mounted on a wall for maximum effect. They are made from 100% New Zealand wool and hand-woven in Nepal. Ranging from small to large sizes the rugs start off at £695 up to £4350.
