AS THE JANUARY BLUES gets us all wanting to hide away under our duvet and lock the door, the winter miseries could actually be a spark to kick starting a new look for your home, we all need something to brighten our mood.
People want to feel happier in dreaded January, figures show the amount of artificial flowers sold after the christmas period has risen dramatically, so we are trying but can do so much more!
Cut the cost of a refurb – grab a bargain
It doesn’t need to cost a fortune, you could just paint one wall and add a few colourful accessories to complete a desired look. Or even take a trip down to your local charity shop and fish out some vintage furniture for a tuppence. It’s all about thinking outside the box and recycling unwanted goods. My friend found an exquisite pink and gold china tea set for £5 in Age concern and gave it to her sister for christmas. It’s now sitting pride of place on the table and looks like something out of a Cath Kidston show room
I also found a bargain on Ebay, I bought a chic dining table and chairs for £50 from a man in Manchester who buys and restores furniture in his garage. His site is called Mintage Vinatge, but I cant seem to locate it on Ebay, you might have more luck. Something like this would cost three or four times more in Laura Ashley or any other furniture store.
