THERE’S STILL A FEW WEEKS left to nominate someone who you feel should be the Adult Learner’s Week champion 2011. Adult learning isn’t just about brushing up on your numeracy and literacy, the campaign helps to promote adult learning in all its forms, whether it’s gaining formal qualifications or learning aerobics.
Stepping back into education can be a scary move, especially if the last time you sat at a desk was over twenty-five years ago! But the support you receive from the campaign and other learners is huge, and will help you push on through those dark patches. Unfortunately, some people do have dark patches through no fault of their own, they still plough through to get to the finish line. These people are a credit to our society and their efforts need celebrating along side everyone else.
You can also nominate an inspiring learning project which you feel needs to be recognised, it may have had a positive impact on yourself and your community, or you have just thoroughly enjoyed taking part. Take a look at the Adult Learner’s Week website, it has examples of success stories, advice and support about courses, projects and otherways to achieve success.
So hurry! The deadlines for nominations is 5pm Friday 28th January.
