As it’s Friday and the weather is a bit glum, I thought I’d bring you a quirky and rather funny Design of the Day. A chinese company, Runto Sanitary Ware have come up a brilliant design combining a toilet and aquarium which not only looks fab but even saves water. This particular design would be perfect for those who like a calm and chilled out atmosphere when they’re on the loo or don’t have enough space for a fish tank!
So how does it work I hear you cry, well the toilet has three separate tanks; one for water flowing in, one for water flowing out, and a third for fish and underwater plants, so the fish always have enough water to swim in.
Runto Sanitary Ware claims this designs saves water as the flushing tank is smaller allowing enough space for the fish tank. Not only this, but the LED lighting in the tank is strong enough to light up the room, saving on electricity.
I’m not sure how much this fish n’ flush toilet is but I do know that wouldn’t like to clean it out all the time!
I’ve recently jumped on the crafting band wagon since Linda Barker demonstrated how to make a vintage cake stand at last months Ideal Home Show. I did a little research online and to my surprise found sites charging for instructions on how to make one.
There are two ways you can go about making a vintage stand, one is to drill holes in the plates and connect them with metal rods, the other is (in my opinion more eclectic) to use glasses as the support stands in between the plates.
So I’d like to give you a short and free guide to making your own bespoke vintage cake stand. Continue reading

I first came across this design at this years Birmingham Interiors Show, in the Designers Block section and since then it’s popularity has rocketed. It was displayed in George Clarke’s revamped eco-friendly house at last months Ideal Home Show event at London’s Earl Court.
Designed by Sam Wilkinson, this Plumen light bulb is the worlds first designer energy-saving bulb which takes on a snake-like shape and looks amazing set in the dark glass shade. (Above) It lasts 8x longer and uses 80% les energy than incandescent bulbs, saving you on your electric bill as well as looking hot!
The name Plumen came from “plume” which is a birds decorative feather, used to attract attention and this certainly does that! The great news is that the bulb doesn’t cost a fortune and a nightmare to get hold of, in fact you can lay your hand on one of these delights for only £19.95 from B&Q! Hurry before they’re sold out!
