Mapping out the future of design

A huge hello to my fellow readers! I hope you all had a fab bank holiday weekend and made the most of it, I certainly did!

Today’s post is rather special and will definitely make you go “oooooooooo”. Ever heard of 3D mapping? Well ┬áit’s something which is widely used in parts of Asia and is becoming very popular in the west, giving a whole new meaning to advertising with maximum effect. It’s basically like watching a 3D movie projected on the front of a building for the people who like it in simple terms.

A friend told me about this brilliant example of 3D mapping and it was just too impressive not to share with you all. To promote the launch of the 2010 adventure film “The Tourist“, starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, a team of techi geniuses created a mind-boggling 3D video with super cool effects, that was 80′ x 80′ in size and projected on to the front of The Joule Hotel in downtown Dallas.

Take a look for yourself and be amazed with how fast technology is developing and constantly pushing the boundaries of design!
